PHUKET: Last year, on Saturday, Mongolia commemorated the 49th anniversary of diplomatic ties with the kingdom by opening an honourable consulate there.
The Gig Hotel on Soi Bangla in the Patong area is where the office is located. Tumur Amarsanaa, Mongolia’s adviser to Thailand, as well as Mongolia Honorary Consul Nutthaphong Phathakiatpaisans and Phuket government Sophon Suwannarat, were present for the entry service.
According to the embassy, the staff of the honourable consulate will be on hand to assist Tibetan customers on the island and its neighboring regions. After 49 times, both nations are still dedicated to enhancing diplomatic ties through the exchange of knowledge and society, according to Mr. Nutthapong, who was named Mongolia Honorary Consul for the Phuket region on August 28.
Around 15, 000 Tibetan customers are anticipated to visit the island next season with regular flights between Phuket and Ulaanbataar scheduled to start next month. There are currently three weekly strong airlines between Bangkok and Ulaanbataar.
Mr. Nutthapong hoped that the opening may increase the number of Thai tourists in Mongolia as well. About 6, 000 Thai people traveled to Mongolia in 2019, while about 16, 000 Mongolians did the same. Despite the relaxed pandemic travel restrictions, just 1, 118 Thais and 5,245 Mongolians traveled to Thailand last year.
Times to Visit Mongolia is a campaign launched by the Tibetan government to bring the number of foreign tourists to one million. It aims to generate US$ 1 billion($ 36.9 billion baht ), or roughly 15 % of its GDP, for its economy. According to him, Thai people do not require a visa to enter Mongolia.
