BURI RAM: On a street in the Chalerm Phrakiat city early on Friday, two cyclists were killed and the other four were hurt when slammed into the pickup truck. Army officer who was driving the getaway fled the scene before turning himself in to the police.
On Highway 24( Chok Chai – Det Udom ), the accident happened at around 5.30 am.
Kruawan La-iad, 54, one of the injured riders, claimed to be among the six cyclists traveling in a line along the road’s back toward the Prakhonchai neighborhood. The next person in line was her.
A pickup truck coming from behind rammed into the cyclists at kilometer marker 133 800 between the Nang Rong and Prakhonchai districts. While the other four riders, including herself, were hurt, the last two in the column perished.
According to Mrs. Kruawan, the delivery sped off, leaving the survivors and their broken bicycles all over the road.
The dead and injured were taken to Chalerm Phra Kiat Hospital by officers and rescue employees who quickly arrived at the scene.
The hit-and-run drivers reportedly turned himself in at the Chalerm Phra Kiat police place. He was a first-class warrant officer who was assigned to an military station in the province of Buri Ram and went by the name Chat.
Pichanon Onpromrat, 64, a business, and Narongchai Yon-anan, 65, both died in the affair. Ms & nbsp, Kruawan and her husband Mana La-iad, 56, Prasop Pinram, 60, and Channarong Chantrakul were all hurt.
They belonged to the Nang Rong Bike Club.
The delivery vehicle was the subject of an investigation and pending legal action.
