Thailand and Laos explore new measures to attract more tourists

Thailand and Laos talked about ways to increase the number of tourists by enhancing travel routes and accelerating the building of a second Thai-Lao connection bridge in the Pak Chom region of Loei on Saturday.

At the S Vangvieng Boutique Hotel on Saturday, Khamphan Sithidampha, the government of Laos’ Vientiane province, was met by Loei provincial government Tawee Sermpakdeekul, his lieutenant Narong Jeenam, Maj Gen Prich Sukantasri, and other officials.

It was the 20th time Loei and Vientiane had a Thai-Lao border security conference. Development of hospitality, exchanges of cultures, and cooperation in financial, social and safety were all discussed.

Laos intends to improve its Muen border city in Vientiane to support the growing number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand who may also travel to the neighboring country after the Thai government decided to review a free-visa plan for Chinese visitors.

According to Mr. Tawee, Muen Town is close to the Pak Chom area in Laos and can serve as a gateway to connect well-known tourist destinations in both Loei and Vientiane. For example, it serves as the connection point between the Vang Vieng and Feuang regions in the former and the latter.

” In Loei, there is a border checkpoint for travelers to cross from Pak Chom to Muen, but in Laos, it is only an outpost.” By the end of this year, we will enlist Laos’ assistance in making the station a continuous one, he said.

In the Pak Chom neighborhood, Loei even intends to build the next Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. According to him, the job will increase business, investment, logistics, and tourism. The Tha Li city of Loei and Kenethao City in Laos are connected by the first Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.
