Kan: Makes a suggestion

In order to keep up with the global trend in wellness and increase related investment and the tourism industry, Phuket’s tourism and property development sectors have urged Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to quickly consider their proposal for an Andaman Wellness Economic Corridor( AWC ).

The call comes after Mr. Srettha’s August 25 – 26 trip to Phuket and Phangnga, where he took office to speak with locals and solicit feedback from the private sector about potential tourism initiatives for the two provinces.

The AWC plan was presented to him there for consideration by a group of businessmen led by Kan Prachumphan, Director of the Beach Group and Andaman City Development Co, and mind of an economic purchase excitement research project in Phuket.

According to the AWC proposal, which was started during the Prayut Chan-o-cha administration, the corridor will be built in six Andaman provinces( Phuket, Krabi, Phangnga, Ranong, Trang, and Satun ), much like the Eastern Economic Corridor( EEC ).

It will aid in the economy’s recovery from the Covid – 19 pandemic and produce income in a health and wellness tourism industry with great growth potential.

Phuket has a top-notch wellness center, resorts in both public and private hospitals, gender affirmation procedures, and sophisticated disease treatments. It also hosts international conventions and exhibitions.

A claims center for collecting medical expenses from foreigners to pay off bad debts, a weather therapy care system for long-staying tourists, and medical centers are all features of Phangnga’s coastal tourist service hub, which also works with the Sky Doctor service.

Krabi encourages the Klong Thom Spa’s expansion. In the Andaman region, Tang is the center for food and health.

A long-term home city will be built in Satun. Popular waters and baths are available in Ranong for treatment.

The primary secretary shouldn’t ignore it, we say. As soon as possible, we want it to take place in the area, Mr. Kan told the Bangkok Post.

more growth

Mr. Kan said the state should boost funding to build Phuket International Airport to tackle an international holiday flow that is anticipated to reach about 18 million visitors by next year in order to clear the way for the AWC.

He even suggested that the government expedite the construction of a new airport in Phangnga’s tambon Khok Kloi. The region’s ability to make money will be fueled by this airports job.

He said,” I’m sure these Andaman provinces have the potential to serve as a hub for the aviation industry in Southeast Asia.”

He suggested that the government improve laws that prevent the establishment of the AWC in the southern provinces in addition to the airport development.

Mr. Kan suggested that the government support Phuket’s Sister City of Investment policy in order to encourage finance and investment in the area and help it further develop its real estate, hospitality, mass transportation system, and online finance market.

Phuket might think about working with a Chinese, Hong Kong, or Singaporean capital to build its cable vehicle project.

In order to increase the connection of the transportation system in the Andaman area, he even suggested the Transit Oriented Development and Land Bridge project, which would build new landmarks using cutting-edge technology and develop a mass transit system.

For instance, he suggested that Phuket Old Town in Muang area create a shopping area and interface in addition to its mass transportation system to accommodate visitors.

In order to function as a wise city, Phuket also intends to create the labor market.

According to Mr. Kan, Phuket is already regarded as a” workation city” where high-caliber workers from around the world with skills based on digital information and assistance experience can be found.

” Some immigrants in holiday parties initially intended to stay on the island for a brief period of time before deciding to purchase real estate for an extended stay. Additionally, this might boost the economy, he said.

According to him, the president’s free-visa legislation and tourism development will encourage people to buy real property in Phuket and the Andaman regions, which will also increase their income. He urged the government to change the law so that immigrants could purchase real estate.

A new legislation for AWC is being proposed

Setting up the AWC is not an easy process, but the government cannot avoid it, according to Thanapat Uttawarapong, an researcher from Andaman City Development.

Mr. Thanapat advised the government to enact a specific laws to get rid of roadblocks caused by the law.

Trials may be finished in less than two years if the particular law is in place and the project is established by the prime minister, he said.

He claimed that the AWC initiative has the full support of the private market.

Regardless of their involvement in the real estate industry, hotels, or SMEs, they are also prepared to support the push for various development projects.

According to him, money will start to move into Phuket and other Andaman southern provinces once the AWC is finished.

However, according to a source, Mr. Srettha and his team will return to Phuket and Phangnga on September 29 and 30 to continue the construction of Phuket International Airport and another tourism development initiatives in order to welcome foreign visitors during the peak travel season in November.
