Andaman region urges maritime safety

According to RAdm Chaiyanan Chumai, a spokesman for the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre ( Thai – MECC ), six Andaman provinces have suggested stepping up maritime assistance measures for tourists and cruise ships to increase confidence in their safety.

Adm Choengchai Chomchoengpaet, the army chief, presided over a Thai-MECC board meeting on Thursday, and he announced the results.

Municipal rulers from the Andaman counties of Phuket, Krabi, Phangnga, Ranong, Trang, and Satun were also present. The meeting, according to Radm Chaiyanan, called for enhancing initiatives to aid visitors and encourage the expansion of sail services in Phuket, like Spectrum of the Seas.

The International Maritime Organization ( IMO ) ensures that the safety of maritime routes and tourism will be increased and that any accidents will quickly be addressed. The Thai – MECC will oversee maritime tourism.

As the journey will take more than 10,000 tourists per day and each is anticipated to spend at least 6,500 baht on the island, he said, adding that Phuket’s revenue last year was over 1.3 billion Baht.

More guidelines have been provided by the Thai-MECC to equip the country’s military forces in the six Andaman regions.

According to him, the army chief has personally oversaw emergency drills, ordered a prompt response to nautical accidents, and put in place measures to stop oil spills.

Pasakorn Boonyalak, the government of Krabi, urged the Thai-MECC to act as a consultant and collaborate with each organization to improve marine safety precautions.

At the end of this time, the county anticipates receiving about 3.5 million visitors thanks to its free-visa policy for visitors from China and other nations.

The majority of visitors to Krabi originate in Malaysia, followed by nations in Europe, Scandinavia, the UK, and the US. Mr. Pasakorn, the state, hopes to see more Chinese tourists in the future.
