On Constitution Day or December 10, House members and employees will celebrate the implementation of the Sappaya-Sapatathan, the new Thai parliament, according to Deputy House Speaker Padipat Santiphada.

He stated that the structure is almost entirely finished, and an assessment committee will meet on Monday to discuss the project’s position.

The dispatch ceremony will happen around the end of this month if they give their approval, he said. If everything goes according to plan, the party will take place on December 10 and the new congress will have a two-year guarantee starting then.

Members of Parliament will host a variety of events, such as photo competitions, an empty house where visitors can tour the building, and even sanatoriums that are permitted by the constitution. On September 27, more information about the celebration will be made public, he said.

The Senate and House of Representatives may now meet in the Sappaya-Sapasathan. It is located on a 424, 000 m2 plot of land in the Dusit neighborhood along Kiakkai Road and the Chao Phraya River. More than 5,000 people can stay there, and there are also galleries, a convention center, conference rooms, as well as spread halls. The estimated value of the building is 2.2 billion ringgit.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission ( NACC) has received numerous petitions about corruption during the project, according to Mr. Padipat, and an investigation is currently being conducted.

In the meantime, House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha received a notice from previous Democrat MP Watchara Phetthong opposing the building’s acquisition. Design, according to Mr. Watchara, has yet to be finished. Some supplies fall short of or don’t adhere to the specifications outlined in the contracts, such as the sizes of trees and the types of wooden floors.

He also inquired as to whether the contractors had been fined at the agreed-upon level of 12.2 million baht per day for the transfer pause. He claimed that the construction business had failed to install fiber concrete sheets in the walls of each House Commission meeting place.

He added that he had also sent the State Audit Office and the NACC a request. Additionally, he had urged Mr. Wan to deliver MP spectators to the meeting on Monday.
