China sanctions two US defence companies over Taiwan arms sales

BEIJING: China & nbsp announced on Friday( Sept. 15 ) that it was sanctioning Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, two American defense firms, for their involvement in providing Taiwan with weapons.

According to the Taiwan Relations Act, the US Congress is required to provide the self-governing politics with weapons for its defense.

In August, Washington for the first time authorized clear US military support to Taiwan under a program aimed at foreign administrations. US governments had previously done this through sales more than direct help.

At a standard media briefing, Chinese foreign government spokeswoman Mao Ning stated that the US government is determined to arm Taiwan despite China’s vehement opposition, really jeopardizing Taiwanese sovereignty and security interests and continuing down the wrong and perilous path of arming Taiwan.

She claimed that Northrop Grumman had participated in income” some days” and that Lockheed Martin was the main company in the August 24 US hands sales to Taiwan.

She stated that China has decided to impose restrictions on the aforementioned two US military firms in accordance with the PRC’s Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law.

Mao claimed that China had urged the US to prevent giving Taiwan arms.
