LONDON: The son of Aung San Suu Kyi, the former president of Myanmar who has been imprisoned, expressed his” extreme concern” for his mother’s health, claiming that she was having trouble eating and was being denied permission to see an outdoor physician.
The 78-year-old Nobel prize, who has been imprisoned for more than two decades, has episodes of diarrhea and dizziness and has a serious candy disease, according to her British-born son Kim Aris.
He said,” I’m very concerned about the condition she’s in. She isn’t as strong as she once was, she says. Things don’t seem very promising if she is able to consume.
Since first 2021, when the army overthrew Suu Kyi’s elected government and cracked down on critics of military rule, with hundreds of them imprisoned or killed, Myanmar has been in upheaval.
Suu Kyi has been detained for 27 years as a result of 14 legal offenses. She has been suing against all the charges against her, including bribery, election fraud, and provocation.
When asked for remark on Suu Kyi’s heath and circumstances, the Myanmar embassy in London did not respond. On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the military authorities did not return calls, and the regime’s data team didn’t respond right away when asked for remark.
Since his family was most recently detained, Aris, 45, who collected the Nobel Peace Prize for her in 1991 while she was a girl and was under house arrest, hasn’t spoken to her. The military has also ignored his repeated requests.
He claimed that there was no way to get in touch with her. She is not even permitted to receive treatment plans. She is never permitted to speak with her attorney. Guests are never permitted for her. She is never permitted to associate with other inmates. In essence, it’s a type of single captivity.
