NEW DELHI: On Saturday( Sep 9 ), Singapore and the United Kingdom improved their relationship to that of a” strategic partnership” by promising to intensify cooperation in five areas, including the economy and defense.
At the sidelines of the Group of Twenty ( G20 ) summit in New Delhi, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his British counterpart Rishi Sunak met. Since Mr. Sunak took business in October of last year, both officials were meeting for the first time.
The leaders outlined the sharing of & nbsp,” a longstanding and historical partnership ,” as well as relationships that are” dynamic and comprehensive at all levels ,” in a joint declaration.
The two frontrunners added that they will continue to build on earlier agreements'” good trajectory and momentum.”
According to the joint pronouncement,” We elevate our marriage and declare it a Strategic Partnership, strengthening existing and launching new areas of diplomatic assistance.”
The five pillars of the strategic partnership are research, science, innovation, and technology cooperation, as well as public sector cooperation. These include cooperation in the financial, defense, security, intelligence, foreign policy, climate, sustainability, natural economy and energy.
Both nations will strengthen their ties in the economic sphere by expanding their cooperation in established fields of industry, investment, and finance while also exploring new horizons in online trade and the modern economy. & nbsp,
Maximizing the advantages and options provided by the UK-Singapore Free Trade Agreement and the British Digital Economy Agreement, as well as the United Kingdom’s entry to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, are among the work.
