PSP’s Hazel Poa files motion to suspend Transport Minister S Iswaran from parliament amid CPIB probe

SINGAPORE: Following the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau’s ( CPIB ) investigation into Transport Minister S Iswaran, Progress Singapore Party ( PSP ) non-constitution member of parliament Hazel Poa has submitted a motion asking for his suspension as an MP.

Ms. Poa stated in a Facebook post on Friday( Sept. 8 ) that she had submitted the action on Thursday to dismiss Mr. Iswaran” for the majority of the latest treatment in the 14th Parliament.”

She continued,” This is done so that he” no longer receives his MP allowance of S$ 192, 500( US$ 141, 152 ) annually while the Prime Minister has asked him to refrain from carrying out any official duties while CPIB is conducting his investigation.”

Her appointment follows & nbsp, according to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who announced Mr. Iswaran’s current interdiction with a reduced salary of S$ 8,500 per month until further notice in parliamentary testimony given on August 2.

According to the Public Service Division, this amount is roughly 15 % of the standard monthly income for a minister, which is S$ 55, 000.

Additionally, Mr. Iswaran is still permitted to receive the Randomness$ 192,500 annual MP income.

Dennis Tan, a member of the Workers’ Party, asked Mr. Lee if he could continue to receive an MP’s income because it is separate from ministerial give and is not subject to the Prime Minister.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau ( CPIB ) and nbsp detained Mr. Iswaran on July 11. He has been placed on a leave of absence and is already out on bail.
