This sub, which Mr. Kim has been working on for many years, is regarded as an essential component of his nuclear weapons program.

Since submarines are hard to find underwater, Pyongyang might be able to attack its rivals from the water after its property weapons had been destroyed.

However, we are unsure if this sub is in use. The the North Koreans have yet to show that they are capable of firing nuclear-powered weapons properly.
