TOKYO: Speaking to Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of a regional meeting in Indonesia, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated on Wednesday( Sep 6 ) that he had explained Japan’s position regarding the release of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
China criticized Japan harshly when it began releasing the water from the destroyed plant into the ocean next quarter. China has imposed a mantle ban on all Japanese underwater goods as revenge.
The Fukushima Daiichi power plant experienced a nuclear collapse in 2011, the worst nuclear crisis to strike since Chernobyl 25 years prior.
Before an ASEAN( Association of Southeast Asian Nations ) meeting in Jakarta, Kishida reportedly had a brief conversation with Qiang.
I told Premier Li about Japan’s place on the treated waters during the conversation, according to Kishida. He resisted revealing Li’s response.
