Remnants of Typhoon Haikui cause floods in southeastern China

BEIJING: Early on Wednesday( Sept 6 ), torrential rain from Typhoon Haikui’s remnants pounded southeast China, causing flooding and forcing cities in Fujian province to close subways, close schools, and evacuate residents.

49 dams had overflowed the storm limit levels as a result of the over rainfall, which broke 12-year-old records in Fuzhou city, according to meteorologists.

According to state media, the rain was greater than Typhoon Doksuri’s effect, which ripped through Fujian in later July and caused storms and US$ 2 billion in direct financial loss.

While schools were closed for a second time, Fuzhou closed train outlines and suspended trains. More than 36, 000 individuals were evicted from their residences.
