Mr. Anwar posted on Facebook on Sunday,” Congratulation to & nbsp, Tharman Shanmugaratnam as the new president of the Republic of Singapore.” & nbsp,
He expressed his desire for Malaysia and Singapore’s diplomatic ties and assistance to remain in a spirit of brotherhood that would be advantageous to both countries’ citizens. & nbsp,
Additionally, Mr. Anwar wished for Singapore’s continued success and prosperity while Mrs. Tharman served as its leader.
In the presidential election on Friday, Mr. Tharman received 70.4 percent of the vote, followed by Tan Kin Lian, the former NTUC Income chief and nbsp, and former GIC chief investment officer, Ng Kok Song( 15.72 percent ), and Tan.
