Rain pounds Bangkok, floods roads

Flooding was reported in several areas of Bangkok upon Thursday morning subsequent hours of large rain overnight.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported flooding within 26 locations on Wednesday night regarding 10 locations remained inundated.

They included Sukhumvit 26 and Sukhumvit 39 roads, a section on Lat Phrao Road from Chao Khun Sing Channel to Lat Phrao 122 Road, sections of Pattanakan Road, Sukhumvit 71 Road and also a section of Srivara Road.

The BMA’s Department associated with Drainage and Sewerage reported the hiighest flood level at 27 centimetres on Chalerm Prakiat Rama IX Road in Sri Udom intersection, followed by 24cm on Pattanakan Road before a Krungthai Bank branch, 15cm on Srinagarind Road close to Wat Sri Iam and 7cm on Pattanakan Road in its intersection along with Srinagarind Road.

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, a lot more rain was expected in Greater Bangkok on Thursday due to the strong monsoon trough in the North as well as the Northeast and the monsoon over the Andaman Ocean, the South as well as the Gulf of Asia.
