Heavy rains cause floods on Bangkok streets

Floods were reported on several places in Bangkok on Thursday morning following the capital was pounded by heavy rain for hours Wednesday evening.

The particular Bangkok Metropolitan Management reported flooding from 26 locations on Wednesday night and floodwater remained on less than 10 locations.

They will included Sukhumvit twenty six and Sukhumvit 39 roads, a section on Lat Phrao Road from Chao Khun Sing Canal to Lat Phrao 122 Road, sections of Pattanakan Road, Sukhumvit 71 Road and a section of Srivara Road.

The BMA’s Department of Draining and Sewerage documented the deepest flood level on road at 27 centimetres on Chalerm Prakiat Rama IX Street at Sri Udom intersection, followed by 24cm on Pattanakan Street in front of a Krungthai Bank branch, 15cm on Srinagarind Street near Wat Sri Iam and 7cm on Pattanakan Street at its intersection with Srinagarind Street.

The Meteorological Department expected rains would increase nationwide including Higher Bangkok on Thurs due to the strong monsoon trough in the North and the Northeast as well as the monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the Southern and the Gulf associated with Thailand.
