The Department of Thai Traditional plus Alternative Medicine has launched a book on old remedies that have cannabis as an component, the country’s to begin its kind.

Deputy director-general Kwanchai Wisitthanon said on Wednesday that the section had been compiling info since 2019, following a Public Health Ministry’s policy to use cannabis for medical reasons.

The particular department had made preparations for the ministry’s unlocking of marijuana with the main objective to give people access to the plant, Dr Kwanchai said.

With this in mind, the  department has created a textbook entitled “National Thai Traditional Remedies with Ganja”. It was the country’s first textbook on Thai traditional treatments containng cannabis, he said.  

It has recently been announced in the Royal Gazette that the guide was useful for the general public Health Ministry as well as for people’s healthcare.

The book contains 162 remedies with cannabis as an ingredient.
