4 die in Penang after their motorcycles collide during suspected street race

GEORGE TOWN: Four people were killed and three others were significantly injured in an incident involving motorcycles plus cars on early Sunday (Jul 17) morning.  

The motorcyclists were believed to be participating in illegal racing.  

Penang’s northeast district police key Assistant Commissioner associated with Police (ACP) Soffian Santong said the particular accident took place on around 4am on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway heading towards George Town.

In the statement on Weekend, ACP Soffian stated three of the 4 motorcyclists died at the scene, and the other died while getting treatment at Penang Hospital.

The dead victims had been identified as Muhammad Harith Zikri Yusnizar, 17, Ahmad Haikal Naif Ahmad Nazrul, 19, Mohd Syazwan Hakim Mohd Abdul Sani, 22, and Muhamad Eizreel Muhamad Roszadi, 25.

Three men who were wounded were identified as Mohd Haziq Harris, 34, who sustained mind injuries; Muhammad Rahimi Shukor, 19, who had injuries in order to his face and head; and Muhammad Shazwan Hafiz Mohd Abdul Sani, twenty two, who suffered accidental injuries to his hands, legs and face.

All of them originated from Penang and Kedah.

According to Malaysian media, video clips distributed online showed a group of motorcyclists racing on the highway when one of them damaged into a car.

In another movie, a pile of motorcycles was noticed on the road.
