Cops might not drop MP assault rap

Following his offer of an apology, an ex-girlfriend of a Move Forward Party( MFP ) MP for Bangkok has asked the police to drop the assault charges against him.

The 27-year-old girl, whose identity was withheld, asserted that she had dated Thawi Watthana district MP Sirin Sanguansin for roughly one month. She accused Bo Win police in Chon Buri of assaulting her on June 23 while they were driving through the Sri Racha area in a complaint she filed with them on Thursday.

The couple had been called for questioning at lunch that day, according to Pol Col Anek Srathongyoo, commander of Bo Win authorities, on Sunday. The couple did, however, arrive at 11 p.m., and the woman informed the police of her decision to drop all charges against the MP, he said.

Police have therefore dropped a property-related demand, he said.

He noted that abuse is a non-compoundable offense and that the real assault charge may stand.

The legal proceedings might go on because it involves assault even if the person cited misunderstanding as her justification for not pursuing legal action, he said.

However, the two consented to start a dispute resolution procedure, and he stated that the police will give prosecutors access to their report for further review.

The girl allegedly argued with Mr. Sirin in his vehicle, according to the most recent statement. According to reports, the MP attempted to snatch a cellular phone from her, and the telephone struck her in the process. They reportedly exited the car before the girl stumbled and hurt herself close to it as they continued to argue.

In order to preserve her respect and in the hopes that the MP may take a session, the person claimed that she reported the incident to the police.

The girl said Ms. Sirin was honest enough to ask the police to drop the charges against him after he apologized, according to authorities.
