UK’s Cleverly criticises Hong Kong police for issuing arrest warrants for activists

LONDON: James Cleverly, the British foreign minister, criticized the Hong Kong police’s decision to issue arrest warrants for eight activists from abroad and declared that China would not bear any attempts to intimidate people.

He stated on Twitter that the decision to challenge arrest warrants for 8 protesters— some of whom are in the UK — is yet another illustration of how totalitarian China’s extrajudicial laws can be.

He added,” We will not tolerate any attempts by China to intimidate and silence individuals in the UK and abroad ,” in a statement made public by the nation’s foreign ministry. The UK will generally have up for those who are being targeted and protect the right to free speech for all.
