SINGAPORE: As chairman of the & nbsp, Monetary Authority of Singapore( MAS ), Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will succeed Tharman Shanmugaratnam as Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies.
According to MAS in a news release on Monday( Jul 3 ), Mr. Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, will be appointed for the term from July 8, 2023, to May 31, 2026.
He recently held a position on the MAS Board from June 2011 to August 2016 and has been the deputy president of the organization since June 1, 2021.
Mr. Tharman, who & nbsp has served as the MAS chairman for 12 years, will resign on July 8.
Mr. Tharman declared his intention to run for president in Singapore next quarter. & nbsp,
On June 8, he gave Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong the go-ahead to resign from government and all of his positions in government. Additionally, he announced his intention to resign from his position as MAS & nbsp chairman as well as from other duties related to his ministerial duties.
Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry, will take over as deputy president of the NBSP.
For the time between July 8, 2023, and May 31, 2026, he may be appointed to the MAS Board.
