Selangor MB at Istana Bukit Kayangan for audience with Sultan

KLANG: The Selangor state government appears adamant with its decision of not dissolving its legislative assembly and holding state polls concurrently with the 15th General Election.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari arrived at Istana Bukit Kayangan for an audience with Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah early Tuesday (Oct 11).

He has yet to emerge from the palace so far, and it is believed Amirudin is conveying the state government’s stand to the Sultan.

At an event in Selayang on Monday (Oct 10), Amirudin reiterated that the state legislative assembly will not be dissolved in tandem with Parliament.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament on Monday afternoon.

Amirudin had told reporters in Selayang that he would be having an audience with the Selangor Ruler to convey the state’s stand.

The Mentri Besar had said the state was declining to participate in the polls because it did not want to take the risk of having to face the floods during polling.

There is prediction that this year’s floods will be worse than the 2020 flooding, which devastated several locations in Selangor.
