Umno to face off with PAS in 27 seats after conditions unmet, says Khaled

PETALING JAYA: Umno will contest against PAS in 27 parliamentary seats as the latter failed to meet the conditions set, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic).

The Umno vice-president said the three conditions set by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would remain the same, Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.

“We have not changed our conditions which were mentioned by our party president. If PAS did not adhere to those conditions, the offer will be automatically rescinded.

“If there is no cooperation, it means that there will be clashes (between Umno and PAS during GE15),” he said after Umno Higher Working Committee meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn on Monday (Oct 10).

He was responding to questions regarding the cooperation between both parties and the 27 parliamentary seats as brought up by PAS.

The three conditions were that PAS must leave the Perikatan Nasional coalition, sever political ties with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and officially declare the ‘mufaraqah’ (the act of leaving a congregation).

On Saturday (Oct 8), PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would stick to its stand to work with all Malay-based parties, including Umno and Bersatu.
