Technical problem forces IndiGo plane to land in Karachi: Report

NEW DELHI: India’s biggest airline, IndiGo, diverted a plane to Karachi within neighbouring Pakistan as a result of “technical defect”, local news agencies reported on Sunday (Jul 17), the second this kind of incident involving a good unscheduled landing in under two weeks.

The flight has been to fly to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from the southern city of Hyderabad.

“After the pilot of the Sharjah-Hyderabad flight observed a technical defect in the aircraft, as a safety measure the aircraft was diverted to Karachi, Pakistan, ” Reuters local TV companion ANI said in the tweet, quoting the airline.

IndiGo was dispatching an additional flight to Karachi to bring passengers back to Hyderabad, ANI said.

InterGlobe Aviators, which operates IndiGo, did not immediately respond to a request for remark.

SpiceJet said on Jul five that a Boeing 737 aircraft from Brand new Delhi to Dubai made an emergency getting in Karachi due to a fuel indicator gentle malfunctioning, prompting India’s airline watchdog to issue a caution notice.

Indian has seen a powerful revival in household and international flights in the months following a lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
