China defence minister warns against ‘NATO-like’ alliances in Asia-Pacific

SINGAPORE: According to China’s defense minister, forming” NATO-like” military alliances in the Asia-Pacific would send the region into a” whirlpool” of conflict.

Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu stated at the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore that” in essence, attempts to push for NATO-like( alliances ) in the Asia-Pacific are a way of kidnapping regional countries and exaggerating conflicts and confrontations, which will only plunge the region into an upheaval of disputes and conflicts.”

” Today’s Asia-Pacific needs open and inclusive cooperation, not buddying up into small cliques ,” according to a statement. We must never forget the terrible tragedies that the two world wars caused for the peoples of all nations, and we must prevent such dreadful record from happening again.

Li didn’t specifically mention any nations, but it seemed like he was referring to the US, which has been bolstering regional relationships and partnerships.

The AUKUS empire, which includes the United States along with Australia and Britain, includes it.

The QUAD party, which also includes Australia, India, and Japan, includes Washington.
