Wickremesinghe sworn in as Sri Lanka’s acting president, new president to be elected on Wednesday

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s Best Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe  was sworn in on Friday (Jul 15) as performing president, his workplace said, replacing Gotabaya Rajapaksa who fled in order to Singapore following months of protests against your pet.

Wickremesinghe, 73, had taken his oath of office before key justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Wickremesinghe’s office said in a brief declaration.

His jump was automatic under Sri Lanka’s constitution  but many of the demonstrators see him because complicit in the guideline of the Rajapaksas and also want him to visit.  

Parliament will meet on Wednesday to choose an MP to succeed Rajapaksa for the rest of his term, the speaker’s office said, along with nominations due the previous day.
