Move Forward Party (MFP) secretary-general Chaithawat Tulathon boasted of his party’s chances of securing at least 100 House seats in the upcoming election at a major campaign rally in Samyan Mitrtown on Saturday.
The event was attended by people from various age groups, not just members of the younger generation.
When asked about the MFP’s election target after the rally, he said if the party is able to maintain its popularity until the poll date, there is a real possibility that the party could win more than 100 seats.
“At the very least, we are confident of our chances of winning more seats than the [now defunct] Future Forward Party,” he said. “We’re also confident of winning about 30 party-list seats.”
Chaithawat: Will win more seats than FFP in last poll
“After working hard over the past four years, people are starting to recognise the MFP’s determination to solve the country’s problems,” he said. “Many people want to see a new generation of leaders ruling the country.”
When asked to comment on reports of Pheu Thai elites being concerned about losing to the MFP in Bangkok’s 50 districts, he said the MFP is competing with every party and aiming to win in other constituencies in other provinces as well.
Meanwhile, Phumtham Wechayachai, a Pheu Thai deputy leader, posted on his Twitter account saying that people need politicians who are mature enough to work with everyone to improve people’s living conditions.
Most parties choose election canvassers from within their ranks to help raise their party’s profile and popularity, while others are introducing their agenda through social media, he said, referring to the MFP.
While political parties can cultivate a certain public image to make them more appealing to voters, they should not forget the reality, he went on to say.
