Evacuation plan for Thais in Sudan ready: RTAF

Students in Sudan have urged the government to send aid as soon as possible, and the Royal Thai Air Force ( RTAF) has prepared aircraft to evacuate Thai citizens.

According to RTAF spokesman AVM Prapas Sornchaidee, ACM Alongkorn Wannarot has sent staff to meet with officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs( MFA ) to discuss how to evacuate Thais in Sudan. For the procedure, the RTAF has prepared an Airbus A340-500 plane and a C-130 aircraft, and it has requested authorization from other nations to sail over airport.

Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the army chief, and Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, his deputy and commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces( RSF ), who jointly seized power in a coup in 2021, engaged in combat in Sudan on April 15. According to reports, the majority of Thais in Sudan are Thai Muslims enrolled in a college in Khartoum.
