Meeting of Umno's 'Top Five' in progress, more leaders gathering at party HQ

PETALING JAYA: The much-anticipated meeting of Umno’s “Top Five” has kicked off at Menara Dato’ Onn at about 4.30pm on Friday (Sept 30.

In a Facebook post, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin confirmed that the meeting of the top five Umno leaders was ongoing.

“Top Five discussion ongoing,” he said in a brief post on Friday (Sept 30).

The top five refers to Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, and three vice-presidents – Khaled, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is also Prime Mninister.

A picture of the top five leaders was also attached to the Facebook posting.

It was reported that discussions on the dissolution of Parliament will be among the top agenda at the meeting.

The top five leaders of Umno are meeting just before the party’s monthly supreme council meeting at 8pm Friday.

In a separate posting, Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan had also posted pictures of the party’s political bureau meeting, which was held earlier and also attended by the prime minister.

Several top Umno leaders were also seen at the party headquarters including Wanita Umno chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad and supreme council member Tan Sri Noh Omar.
