SEOUL: Cross-border freight train operations between Northern Korea and Tiongkok have resumed after a five-month suspension, Southern Korea’s Yonhap information agency reported on Monday (Sep 26).
The freight train through Dandong crossed the bridge to the North Korean city of Sinuiju, Yonhap said.
Train crossings have been on hold since Apr 29, when Cina suspended services along with North Korea following consultation services due to COVID-19 bacterial infections in its border associated with Dandong. Shortly after, North Korea reported the first COVID-19 um utbreak, which usually it now states has ended.
The April suspension came less than four months after Northern Korea eased boundary lockdowns enforced earlier in 2020 against the coronavirus.
Worldwide aid groups have got blamed the edge measures for North Korea’s worsening economic woes and risks to food materials for millions.
Last month innovator Kim Jong El declared victory over COVID-19 plus ordered the raising of maximum anti-epidemic measures imposed in May, though adding that will North Korea must maintain a “steel-strong anti-epidemic barrier”.
