Medical student claims trial to 12 charges of producing, possessing child porn

SEREMBAN: A medical student from Bangladesh stated trial at the Classes Court here in order to 12 charges associated with producing and in possession of child pornography.

Zobaidul Amin, 24, students at a private college here, pleaded simple after the charges had been read to him before Judge Surita Budin.

For the first eight charges, he was offender of directing or producing child pornography using the Snapchat application.

Zobaidul had been charged under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Kids 2017.

For your next four charges, he was charged with being in possession of 740 digital images containing kid pornography in his cell phone, USB drive and hard disk.

He was charged under Area 10 of the exact same legislation for the accidents.

He allegedly committed the offences at a house in Bukit Rasah close to here between April 26, 2021 plus Sept 19 this season.

Deputy general public prosecutor Zahida Zakaria urged the courtroom not to allow bail, as the alleged offences were serious.

She said when bail was granted, the accused would probably produce more child pornography or harass the victims.

Counsel for the accused, Harvindar Singh inquired the court to permit bail, as it had been allowed.

Surita then allowed a bail of RM8, 000 for each offence with two sureties.

The accused was also told to report to the closest police station every month and not to harass the victims or witnesses.

She also fixed November 30 for remention.

On Wednesday (Sept 21), Law enforcement secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said that the suspect was arrested on Monday (Sept 19) in Seremban.

The suspected online child predator was arrested following a joint investigation using the FBI.

The girl said investigations demonstrated that the suspect acquired used social media in order to communicate and snare his victims.

He would then “sextort” his victims.

All victims have been found to have already been from overseas.
