Grab has officially launched its Intercity feature, which allows users to purchase bus and ferry tickets from the app.
The feature also includes direct bus routes to over 30 destinations in Singapore, which users can travel to from 11 different states and cities across Malaysia.
Transport minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said such initiatives for convenient travelling is crucial for the nation’s economic recovery.
“As travelling continues to be a key focus for many countries, facilitating the ease of cross border travels is even more vital than ever in helping the recovery efforts of our economy. Moreover, as borders continue to relax further all around the world, we foresee a further increase in travelling activity, both domestically and internationally,” he said in a statement.
Grab Malaysia director of country operations and mobility Rashid Shukor said the Intercity feature aims to help users with planning for holidays.
“By growing our travel offerings, users can plan their holidays without the need for multiple apps or log-ins. We hope this enables a more convenient way for Malaysians to prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha too,” he said.
Users can access the Intercity feature on the Grab app homepage. They can search for a one-way or round trip ticket from over 15,000 available routes. Currently, users are required to pay for Intercity rides via Grabpay ewallet.
Grab first announced that it was piloting the Intercity feature back in November 2021.
