No issue if Najib uses his own blood pressure meds, says KJ

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no issue if former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak uses his usual blood pressure medication to treat his ailment, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Health Minister said based on Prison Department procedures, any prisoner may use their own prescribed medications if they do not want to use those provided by the Health Ministry.

“I was made to understand that this is allowed, so there should be no issue,” said Khairy at a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with IHH Healthcare Berhad on Wednesday (Sept 14).

Senior lawyer Datuk Zaid Ibrahim had earlier said Najib should be allowed to use his usual brand of blood pressure medication.

On Tuesday (Sept 13), Khairy dismissed claims Najib was having high blood pressure due to a change of medication.

He said that Najib was given generic medication when he was hospitalised in Hospital Kuala Lumpur, but the formula was the same as the medication that the Pekan MP usually takes.
