Designs plays a closeted police officer in 1957 England, which marries Marion, played by Emma Corrin. But he’s privately having an affair with an artistry curator named Meat, played by Brian Dawson.
The film goes from the 1950s to the 1990s, with an old and suffering Patrick now performed by Rupert Everett.
Movie director Michael Grandage told Vanity Fair that Styles’ personality is “confused, ” and given the particular laws and social politics of the time sensed unable to come out.
“It’s made more difficult by the fact that your dog is a policeman, plus he’s in a career that is about maintaining the law. And the legislation in the country at the time is all about everything he seems — the complexity of it is something that whoever was going to perform younger Tom plus older Tom required to somehow understand and absorb, ” he said.
“My Policeman” premieres in theaters Oct. 21 and will be released upon Amazon Prime Movie on Nov. 4.
