Lisa Marie Presley says she was ‘destroyed’ by the death of her son

In a new essay for “National Grief Awareness Day” on Tuesday, Presley opens up about the loss of her son, Benjamin Keough, 27, who died simply by suicide in 2020.
“My and my 3 daughters’ lives even as we knew it had been completely detonated plus destroyed by their death. We live in this every. Individual. Day, ” the girl writes. “Grief is usually something you will have to bring with you for the rest of your life, in spite of what specific people or the west wants us to trust. You do not ‘get over it, ‘ you do not ‘move on, ‘ time period. ”
Presley identifies grief as “incredibly lonely, ” composing that only “a handful” of people usually stay in contact to provide ongoing support to a friend or family member who has experienced a difficult loss.
“Unfortunately, this is a cold hard reality for most. So , if you know someone who lost a family member, regardless of how long novice, please call them to see how they are performing. Go visit them. They will really appreciate it, more than you understand, ” she produces.
Presley says she gets found comfort in the organization of people who have experienced similar tragedy.
“Support groups that have your specific type of loss in common. I actually go to them, and I hold them just for other bereaved mothers and fathers at my home, inch Presley writes. “Nothing, absolutely NOTHING takes away the pain, but finding support can sometimes help you really feel a little bit less by yourself. ”
Presley says her daughters keep her going.
“I keep going pertaining to my girls, inch Presley writes. “I keep going because our son made it very clear in his final times that taking care of his little sisters and looking out for them were on the forefront of his concerns and his mind. He absolutely adored them and so they him. ”
