Thirty-two tonnes of seized illicit drugs will be incinerated at the Akkhie Prakarn Plc factory in Bang Pu Industrial Estate, Samut Prakan province, on Aug 30-31, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) secretary-general Paisal Dankhum said on Tuesday.
Dr Paisal said the drugs were from concluded cases handled by the Royal Thai Police, Office of the Attorney General, Royal Thai Army and Office of the Narcotics Control Board.
To go up in flames on Aug 30-31 are a total of 32,194kg of illicit drugs impounded by authorities in 120 cases, worth about 29 billion baht.
They include 21,270kg of methamphetamine, 9,396kg of crystal meth or ice, 561kg of heroin, about 89kg of ecstasy, 278kg of opium and about 600kg of other narcotic substances.
Dr Paisal said the burning of impounded drugs occurs eery year.
The incineration on Aug 30-31 will be the second this year and the country’s 54th. About 40 tonnes of drugs were destroyed earlier this year.
