Police detain two suspects in investment scam, one still on the run

BALING: Police are looking for a 23-year-old girl in connection with a non-existent investment scam referred to as ‘Savingbywaniey’ or Free Cash, with failures reported in the region of RM1. 2mil.

Baling police chief Supt Shamsudin Mamat stated the suspect through Kampung Landak Hilir, Kupang here was believed to have been associated with a number of non-existent expense schemes.

“We are tracking down the particular suspect after getting 33 reports involving losses amounting in order to RM1. 2mil.

“However, police jailed two local ladies, both in their 30s, at 5. 30pm on Wednesday (Aug 24) to assist within investigations, ” he said in a declaration on Thursday (Aug 25).

Among the two suspects jailed was pregnant and expected to give delivery early next month. She was released on bail while the other suspect would be remanded pertaining to four days starting today, he stated.

The sufferer, a woman, was guaranteed a return of RM12, 000 in two months for her ‘invested’ quantity of RM6, 000.

Convinced by the structure, the victim later added RM4, 500 and RM2, 500, after being promised RM8, 000 and RM5, 000 in exchange.

“However, the return for assets were not paid and the woman disappeared. The victim later lodged a police survey on Aug nineteen, ” he said.

Supt Shamsudin advised the public not to be fooled by promises of high returns for investments because such investments are not legal and carried out by syndicates involved with scams. – Bernama
