Cops rescue abducted nine-month-old girl, arrest five

BUKIT MERTAJAM: 5 people, including three teenagers, have been imprisoned over the abduction of a nine-month-old girl through an apartment at Bukit Tengah here.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Cheng Shan said the suspects were detained with two different locations in raids upon Tuesday (Aug 23).

“Acting on the police report lodged by the baby’s mother at the Bukit Tengah police station, a police team jailed three suspects, older 14 to 18, throughout a raid on a hut in Machang Bubok at about 11. 50pm on Tuesday, ” he told the press conference in the Central Seberang Prai police headquarters on Thursday (Aug 25).

ACP Suntan said following the arrests, police went to a house in Kulim at about midnight and arrested a woman, 43, plus her 30-year-old spouse.

He furthermore said the baby has been safely rescued from the house.

He or she said the potential foods were detained for alleged involvement in abducting the baby from her 65-year-old babysitter at about 5pm upon Tuesday.

In the incident, the girl had been allegedly taken by the 14-year-old suspect, who might be also the babysitter’s grandchild.

The victim’s mother heard bout the abduction when she went to the particular babysitter’s Bukit Tengah apartment to retrieve her daughter.

She was after that told by the residence security guard the suspect fled the particular scene on a motorbike while holding the newborn.
