Cops tracking down mastermind of RM4mil chip holder theft

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Penang police are looking for a man in connection with the theft of RM4mil worth of chip holders from a storage space facility in Bukit Tengah last month.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Cheng Shan said the particular suspect, in his 30s, is believed to be the mastermind of the group that will broke into a manufacturer warehouse and escaped with 16 boxes of chip holders on July 5.

“We caught seven suspects good old 24 to sixty, including two safety guards, on the same day time as the incident.

“All of them are actually released on law enforcement bond, ” he or she said here on Thursday (Aug 25).

ACP Bronze said further investigations found that the guards were not involved in the robbery.

However , one of those arrested was a worker in the factory and it also was found that every the suspects understood one another, he added.

In the 11pm incident, a group of guys broke into the building’s store and fled in a lorry with their loot.

ACP Tan said the chip holder was created for specific make use of and cannot be utilized in all machines, and police did not rule out the possibility that the mastermind could have sold all of them overseas.

“We are still (trying to locate) the mastermind, whom we have discovered, ” he said.

The case is being investigated under Area 395 of the Penal Code for robbery.
