China has not left a comment on the footage, that has received millions of views on Chinese social media marketing with users producing fun of it.
It has also triggered heated debate in Taiwan, which includes social media users phoning the incident a “humiliation” for the island’s armed forces and recommending the defence ministry to step up its countermeasures to the more and more frequent drone incursions.
The Kinmen defence command stated the footage has been another example of China’s “cognitive warfare” against Taiwan and an effort to “denigrate” the armed forces.
Wang Ting-yu, a mature lawmaker of Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Modern Party, described the incident as “very serious” and questioned why Taiwan’s defence ministry did not react to the incursion.
“The drone had been flying on top of our soldiers on safeguard but there’s absolutely no response, ” he or she said. “If you simply let them come plus go freely, this was negligence of responsibility. ”
Taiwan has controlled Kinmen, along with the Matsu islands further up China’s coast, since the conquered Republic of The far east government fled in order to Taipei after shedding a civil battle with Mao Zedong’s communists in 1949.
At its closest point, Chinese-controlled territory is only a few hundred metres through Kinmen.
