In a statement sent to CNN by her attorneys on Tuesday, Ould – Palus accused Kyrgios of making the allegation, which she described as “reckless and completely baseless, ” plus which she states caused her plus her family “substantial damage and problems. ”
“I am not really litigious, but right after much consideration, I had concluded that I have simply no alternative but to instruct my solicitors Brett Wilson LLP to create defamation proceedings towards Mr Kyrgios in order to clear my name, ” the statement read.
“The need to acquire vindication, and to avoid repetition of the accusations, are the only reasons for taking legal actions. Any damages recovered will be donated in order to charity. ”
She added: “I hope that will Mr Kyrgios will reflect on the damage he has caused me and my family and provide a prompt resolution to this matter.
“However, if he is unwilling to do this, I am committed to obtaining vindication in the High Court. inch
Kyrgios, who was eventually beaten by Novak Djokovic in the suit that day, have been angered during the contest after he stated there was noise through the crowd.
