Fear of a hung parliament should not stop GE15, says Ahmad Zahid

PETALING JAYA: Associated with a hung parliament should not prevent the fifteenth General Election (GE15) from being held, says Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In the Facebook post upon Monday (Aug 22) to debunk concerns of a hung parliament, the Umno leader said the situation which usually he described as the “myth” would not end up being as bad as it had been made out to be by certain organizations.

“Myths are old stories which are considered true, but are not true or made up. Political common myths are things that are not true and can end up being proven (to be untrue), ” stated Ahmad Zahid.

He added that politics science expert Dr Wong Chin Huat recently gave a tip on the issue of the hung parliament.

“Interestingly, he shipped it in the Keluarga Malaysia Symposium that was officiated by the Leading Minister. He (Dr Wong) explained there is nothing to fear or worry about if there is a hung parliament, inch said Ahmad Zahid.

“This circumstance is not as poor as described simply by certain parties, nor does it cause the destruction of a nation or severely affect the economy, ” he added.

Ahmad Zahid said however, there is a need to have a far more comparative understanding of national politics in the political program.

“The government of New Zealand in between 1996 and 2020 was formed from that but (the country is) nevertheless stable and establishing.

“(Wong’s explanation) is to open up (a) better understanding of the current political myth.

“Therefore, do not utilize the excuse of fearing a hung parliament to prevent the general selection from being held, ” he mentioned.
