Singapore man jailed for murdering wife in UK hotel

A man who suffocated his wife associated with 27 years having a hotel pillow continues to be jailed for a minimum of 12 and a half yrs.

Soong Hert Fong, 51, slain Pek Ying Ling at the County Aparthotel in Newcastle on 6 December.

The couple from Singapore were on holiday when Fong killed their 51-year-old wife, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

He was sentenced to life with a minimum term after admitting killing partway through a demo .

The couple were touring Europe together been visiting Newcastle to see one of their own sons who was studying at university in the town.

Fong told the particular court he “just lost it” plus killed his wife hours before they were due to fly to Paris.

He had necessary hospital treatment after many falls during their trip and had been unsatisfied with his wife’s responses that he was not caring for himself.

Prosecutors claimed he killed her “to stop her scolding him or nagging him or keep her quiet”.
