The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is urging the particular Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Secretariat (Seames) to compensate work applicant who was denied a position due to their disability.

The applicant experienced received an schooling fund for his disability rights activism, Mr Wasan mentioned.

Mister Wasan said the man applied for a position in Seames, an intergovernmental organisation comprising education and learning ministers from Philippines, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

During the process, the complainant met every criterion and the organisation afterwards sent a letter to the Education Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) of Thailand in November seeking acceptance for his work, Mr Wasan said.

Nevertheless , executive officials from the organisation later denied hiring the candidate after learning he was disabled, Mr Wasan said.

If correct, the NHRC will certainly consider the denial discriminatory as stipulated by Section 27 from the constitution and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which promote similar rights for impaired people.

An inspection demonstrated that Seames stated the physical condition of the applicant didn’t meet the job qualification, while such details are not clearly defined in the first place. Additionally, it reasoned that the job requires coordination between domestic and global networks.

However , the NHRC said that Seames should’ve first gauged the applicant’s abilities, like by providing a probationary period for him.
