5 cases of resistant strain found

There are now five confirmed bacterial infections in Thailand from the antibody-resistant sub-variant associated with Covid-19, BA. 2 . 75, and health authorities say they may be closely watching its development.

Dr Supakit Sirilak, director-general of the Section of Medical Sciences, said yesterday that the first BA. 2 . 75 case was obviously a 53-year-old Thai man in Trang. He attended a meeting within Phuket June 23-24 where it’s believed he contracted the sub-variant.

The second confirmed situation was a Thai guy, 62, from Phrae province, who developed a cough and had excessive phlegm.

The third case was a high school student, 18, who was element of a Covid-19 bunch at his school. He is a native of Nan.

The fourth case was a man, 62, in Songkhla province. He had earlier dropped vaccination because he wrongly feared the shot would react badly with his allergy issue, Dr Supakit stated.

The person is severely sick, dependent on a ventilator and is in rigorous care, he mentioned.

“An allergy is not grounds for exception through Covid-19 vaccination. With out inoculation, infected individuals will suffer severe signs and symptoms, ” he said.

The particular fifth case was an elderly, bedridden woman in Bangkok.

“Officials are monitoring the introduction of the sub-variant. When the strain is highly transmissible, its infection proportion will gradually rise. Otherwise, cases goes up only for a certain period, ” Doctor Supakit said.

Dr Supakit said previously that this BA. 2 . seventy five strain could prevent antibodies because it experienced about 90 variations that differed this from the original Wuhan strain.

He said over the past week, samples through 382 Covid-19 situations were examined and most of them, 322, were the BA. 4/BA. 5 sub-variants of the Omicron variant. There was clearly one BA. one case, 58 HANDBAG. 2 cases and something BA. 2 . seventy five case.

BA. 5/BA. 5 was found in 91. 5% of the analyzed cases in Bangkok and 80% in other provinces.
