Lev Panfilov, a 29-year-old permanent resident of Singapore who is a native of Russia, was previously found guilty by the High Court of two counts of murder, one matter of physical abuse by penetration, and one count of indignation of modesty.
After he invited the person up to the level he shared with roommates to work on her text, the assault took place on January 12, 2021, in Panfilov’s home.
The girl, who was 30 years old at the time, was attempting to write comedies for television. She had previously worked as an artist and design.
Sheldon Lim, the deputy public attorney, requested 16 cane-related strokes and 14 years in prison.
The trial claimed in written evidence that Panfilov lacked shame because he had forced the woman to undergo a 13-day marathon of cross-examination before starting his trial.
The judge refused to grant Panfilov’s request to leave Singapore until the trial was over, according to the prosecution.
He was stopped at the gate to Changi Airport Terminal 1 on December 9, 2023 as he attempted to table his journey using his new Russian card.
Panfilov, who was currently being held on bail, was thus detained and placed back in prison.
He had requested and obtained the new card without the investigating officer’s understanding.
Lawyer Sameer Melber, who currently represents Panfilov, requested 10 years, 5 months in prison, and six wood breaths.
Sameer claimed that the sequence of events demonstrated that the girl had not intentionally placed herself in Panfilov’s sleep and that she had chosen to do so.
The attorney stated that his client intends to do both his education in prison and getting married later in 2025.
The girl and Panfilov gave various records of the incident during the test, which started in May 2023.
After talking on Tinder and WhatsApp, the two men made plans to meet in person at a diner in Robertson Quay.
She claimed that his Tinder report had indicated that he was either a poet or a filmmaker, and that she had hoped to get some storytelling guidance from him.
She and he opened her computer and began working on her text at the restaurant.
She claimed that Panfilov suggested working on the text at his location after waiters called to inquire if they had any previous orders, and she agreed.
The lady took a Grab vehicle, while Panfilov rode his motorcycle to the apartment, and the two went there differently.
He led her into his home at his level. They watched videos of different comedians and sat on his bed while discussing funny characters. Because the area then sat a little crowded, she claimed, she sat on his bed.
The girl claimed that he immediately grabbed her and kissed her on the mouth before telling her to “no” and gathering her points to leave.
But she claimed that he sexually assaulted and raped her on his base.
She saw a dentist on January 16, 2021, who instructed her to file a police record while still in pain from the abuse.
She spoke to many police officers there the following morning, and she left without lodging a statement.
She suddenly disclosed what had happened to her mother on January 18, 2021, at around evening. A police report was filed after her family took her to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  ,
Panfilov claimed that the meeting was lawful but did not deny the woman’s existence. He claimed that she had made the initial advances, which included pressing on his knee, stroking his hip, and laughing at his gags.
After the sexual encounter, he requested her tackle and reserved a vehicle on the Gojek software for her to drive home.
He claimed that she responded that everything was fine when he eventually messaged her and asked if she had safely arrived home.
He claimed that after she left, he later said that he had never responded because she had a bad sense of humor.
Justice Pang Khang Chau discovered the girl to be an exceedingly encouraging witness who provided a thorough and in-depth account that was both internally and externally consistent.
The prosecutor accepted that she had arguments to support the contentions made by the defense.
Justice Pang found, however, that Panfilov was never a reliable see and that his evidence did not contribute to casting believable doubts on the lawyer’s situation.
The judge found that Panfilov’s statements to police officers, what he said in his videoed discussions, and what he said in jury had considerable contradictions.
He may file an appeal if his faith and paragraph are invalid. The Strait Times/ANN
