China’s humanoid robots will not replace human workers: Official

Liang explained that the country’s first robot half-marathon, which took place last fortnight in Beijing, was purposefully set up to show his and other officers ‘ hopes that these humanoids would help people rather than take their place.

On one side of the two tracks, humans and robots competed against one another, while 20 teams each operated a machine, whose dimensions and capacity varied greatly.

You see, in the marathon, people have their monitor where they push their real limits, and machines have their monitor where they work together to push their limits, but they aren’t trying to overtake the animal course to cross the finish line. The prospect may also look the same, Liang predicted.

Liang addressed reporters at the Beijing Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center, whose machine Tiangong Ultra won the inaugural machine half-marathon, at the offices of state-backed X-Humanoid.

The center also displayed different prototypes that demonstrated it was working on drones capable of carrying out commonplace tasks in the face of obstacles and shifting environments, in addition to the sports-focused Ultra type, which may achieve a top rate of 12kmh.

In a demonstration, an employee constantly moves the position of a piece of garbage or removes it from the robot’s hand, moving the object around and carrying out the task until it was finished, according to the center’s prediction of self-correction, which will help turn the humanoids into productive workers.
