
In their ongoing investigation into the reported 300-million-baht embezzlement from the cathedral’s funds, police are looking into various bank accounts owned by Wat Rai Khing in Nakhon Pathom.
More than 20 bank records were registered to the Buddhist church, including the ad hoc records that were used to make money from the sale of Buddha ornaments and special events, according to Pol Maj Gen Prasong Chalermpan, the head of the anti-corruption section officers, on Sunday.
According to the captain, police have already used seven records to support their accusations against Yaem Inkrungkao.
When Mr. Yaem was the priest of the renowned Buddhist temple in the Samphran area of Nakhon Pathom last Thursday, he turned himself in to the police.
He was alleged to have extorted 300 million baht from the temple’s bank records and given the money to a woman he claimed used for online gaming. On the same day, he was defrocked.  ,
Between 2020 and 2024, Pol Maj Gen Prasong reported that about 300 million baht was transferred from the 70-year-old past abbot to the 28-year-old woman believe Aranyawan Wangthapan through numerous stations. Both women reportedly had a relationship when the person was a younger pupil at Wat Rai Khing School.
About 80 million ringgit was transferred from his addresses to the person in 2023 out of the 300 million. Additionally, a former monk contributed more than 200 million baht to the person through transfers and cash payments made at ATMs.
At the Police Academy in Samphran area, Nakhon Pathom, police established an operations center to deal with the embezzlement situation.
