Case numbers great but symptoms are mild, says Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin

Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin has urged the government not to worry amid concerns over a rise of Covid-19 in Thailand, emphasising that the disorder is now classified as widespread.
Although case numbers remain great, the disease usually causes mild indications, he said.
From Jan 1 to May 10, 53,676 Covid-19 situations and 16 fatalities have been reported in the country.
Bangkok recorded the most infection with 16,723 cases, rising during the week of April 27 to May 3 at 14,349 situations, including two incidents.
Other provinces with significant case counts include Chon Buri ( 1,177 ), Nonthaburi (866 ) and Rayong ( 553 ).
New pathogens declined to 12,543 in the week of May 4–10.
Mr Somsak said annual elements and large gatherings drive infection rates. “Covid-19 is today a year-round prevalent disease. While it spreads easily, its severity has decreased, ” he said.
“There’s no need for anxiety, but all must be vigilant and follow public health measures, like as mask-wearing. ”
The secretary also outlined steps to take if Covid-19 signs are suspected, starting from immediate tests using an ATK set when signs such as fever, cough, sore throat or stress occur.
If the test result is positive, sick persons may remove themselves, wear a helmet, avoid contact with others, especially older people, expectant women and patients with underlying chronic diseases, and pursue health protocols.
Those who have serious indications should seek medical attention quickly, he said.
