6 new highlights at Fort Canning Park, from interactive heritage gallery to expanded spice garden

FORTIFICATION CANNING BOOK

An NParks-produced book titled “Fort Canning Park: Traditions & Gardens” has been launched.

It documents the history and design concept of the park’s nine landscaped gardens.

There are also various stories and facts about the park’s  fauna, heritage monuments and objects, and buildings.

It can be purchased at  different locations around the Singapore Botanic Gardens or at the Gardens Shop website.

CHINESE CERAMICS

The third level of  the Fort Canning Center will play host to  a new Gallery@L3,   a 210 sq m space hosting exhibitions and events, NParks said.

Its first exhibit, a collaboration along with the  Society to get Chinese Ceramics Studies (SCCS), is titled “Kaleidoscope in Clay (I): Glazes and Forms through 5, 000 years of Chinese language Ceramics”.

Regarding 140 pieces of Chinese language ceramics from the  collection of  SCCS members will be showcased, including pieces  dated to as early as more than 4, 000 in years past.

In conjunction with the exhibit, SCCS will also organise a 12-lecture training course on the history of Chinese ceramics.

A good exhibition preview associated with selected exhibits can run from Aug 26 to Sep 11, with the complete exhibition opening through Oct 7 in order to Feb 10, 2023.  

An additional exhibition titled “Kaleidoscope in Clay (II)” will focus on Track and Yuan dynasty ceramics and run from Feb 24, 2023 to Jun 30, 2023.

All exhibitions are usually open to the public, and admission is totally free.
